Hypnotherapy For Weight Loss & Sleep Disorders | Denver, Colorado | Littleton, Colorado

In my Hypnotherapy practice,  I see a number of individuals with similar issues of depression, weight gain, and sleep disorders. They are all connected to chemical imbalance in the brain. The obesity epidemic in the United States has ignited interest in finding solutions to weight gain. This is not due to vanity. Rather, maintaining excess weight is known to have a devastating impact on a person’s overall health. Sleep disorders often occur with weight gain. If you are experiencing any of these problems, I can help you with Hypnotherapy at my Littleton, Colorado office near Denver, Colorado!

Hypnotherapy for weight loss & sleep disorders can be a valuable tool in helping a person overcome depression, lose weight and get more sleep. Depression, weight issues and sleep disorders can all be caused by the same culprit: low serotonin.

Serotonin is a neurotransmitter. A neurotransmitter is a chemical that helps impulses to move between nerve cells. It helps the brain function and process information. Serotonin also helps to improve mood and decrease appetite, which are very important factors in weight management and healthy sleep. If a person has a proper amount of serotonin, they will feel emotionally stable and less anxious, while also feeling more energetic and alert. Serotonin helps to prevent stress and pain from interfering with sleep and decreases appetite.

What causes low serotonin? Lack of sleep can cause serotonin level to be low. Conversely, low serotonin, the precursor to the sleep hormone melatonin can cause lack of sleep. This can be a difficult cycle to break for people who suffer from a sleep disorder. Low serotonin can cause a sleep disorder, and the person experiences difficulty in raising their serotonin level because it is further depleted by lack of sleep. Stress can also cause low serotonin levels. The body uses more serotonin when a person experiences stress. Low serotonin levels can also have a genetic component.

If someone has low serotonin, the goal is to restore balance. Balance can be restored with an increase in serotonin available to the body. Serotonin increase can be achieved through a healthier diet, exercise, natural supplements, medication, and clinical hypnotherapy. Too much serotonin can cause illness, so balance is the goal.

In order to treat low serotonin levels, a person might be prescribed an anti-depressant such as Prozac, which maintains a steady level of serotonin in the body. There are a number of antidepressant medications, classified as SSRIs, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. These medications work by preventing serotonin from being absorbed into the brain. Unfortunately, medications can have side effects. It is well known that diet and exercise are essential to a person’s well-being.

Hypnotherapy can be a highly valuable tool for increasing serotonin because it has no negative side effects. This increase in serotonin can relieve depression, reduce stress, facilitate weight loss and help you sleep better.

You might have questions about clinical hypnotherapy, as popular culture maintains a persistent image of a stoic, bespectacled gentleman swinging a pocket watch on a chain, while the client becomes “very sleepy.” This is not clinical hypnotherapy. Along with this false image, popular culture perpetuates mistrust about the process, as though the purpose of hypnotherapy is to get you to spill some secrets. This myth is one that I am most frequently asked about. The truth is that you will only say what you want to say in hypnotherapy and you are in full control of it, not the clinical hypnotherapist.

A Hypnotherapist uses hypnotherapy to help individuals overcome their problems. The word hypnosis stems from the Greek word, hypnos, which means sleep. By utilizing tactics such as guided visualization, the client will be led into a mental state of deep relaxation, concentration, and focused attention. In a state of deep relaxation, a person’s subconscious will be open and highly suggestible. The therapist will use helpful and efficient auto-suggestions to give corrections to the client’s unconscious mind that are designed to help them achieve their goal. The brain can be retrained over a series of visits, with positive thoughts and behaviors taking the place of the former negative thoughts and behaviors.

People tend to feel good after a hypnotherapy session. They feel good because hypnotherapy increases serotonin levels. In addition to increasing serotonin, hypnotherapy works by changing behavior. Weight loss hypnotherapy includes positive words spoken with the intent to influence the brain while it is at its most receptive state, such as: “My body deserves healthy food. I owe my body respect and will avoid foods that cause it damage.” Statements such as this can lead to healthier food choices, which will not only help a person achieve their goal of weight loss, but also keep the weight off in the long run.

Hypnotherapy for sleep disorders helps a person achieve more sleep by increasing serotonin. Serotonin is necessary to regain a normal sleep pattern. Increased serotonin helps to manage pain, and prevents stress from interfering with sleep. The state of deep relaxation facilitated by hypnotherapy helps a person suffering from depression and a sleep disorder to break the pattern of stress and serotonin depletion. Consequently, weight loss is usually a natural outcome.
